Family:Whitney, Henry Adalbert (1841-1915)
Hon. Henry A.9 Whitney (Dexter8, Ethan7, Hiram H.6, Henry5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Dexter8 and Adeliza (Cook) Whitney, was born 2 Jul 1841, Bellingham, MA, and died 21 Sep 1915, Bellingham, MA, aged 73 years 2 months 18 days, of disease of heart.[1]
He married, 2 or 6 Dec 1865, Bellingham, MA, Helen A. Holbrook, daughter of Eliab and Hannah (Pickering) Holbrook.[2] She was born 26 Apr 1840, Bellingham, MA, and died 1 Apr 1906, Bellingham, MA, aged 65 years 11 months 5 days, of diabetes.[3].
Henry A. Whitney was born in Bellingham, 2 Jul 1841. He married Helen Holbrook. The union has resulted in three children. He was by occupation, for many years, a boot maker, but for the past few years he has followed the occupation of a hatter. He is very prominent in town affairs; he is at present constable and town clerk; was elected to the state legislature in Nov 1893; resided Bellingham, MA.

i. Jennie Louise10 Whitney, b. 22 Oct 1866, Bellingham, MA;[4] m. 29 Aug 1894, Bellingham, MA, Charles H. Towle, of Concord, b. ca. 1867, Newport, NH, son of George H. and Theoda (Ware) Towle;[5] resided Atlanta, GA, Spelman Seminary. Jennie L. Whitney was educated in the town schools of Bellingham, MA; was graduated from the state normal school at Framingham, MA; has followed the occupation of teacher, having taught in public schools in Quincy, MA, and Bellingham, MA; is at present a critic teacher in the normal department of Spelman seminary, Atlanta, GA. A perusal of Spelman's Messenger acquaints us with the dedication of Giles hall, 1 Dec 1893, erected for the normal and missionary departments of Spelman seminary. Miss Jennie L. Whitney now instructs her model normal training school in this hall, $50,000 of which was given by John D. Rockefeller. This seminary is an index of the Baptists of the North for education of the colored people, where nearly 1,000 pupils are enrolled. ii. Lewis Edward Whitney, b. 27 Feb 1868, Bellingham, MA.[6] iii. Eva Lillian Whitney, b. 3 Jun 1870, Bellingham, MA;[7] m. 31 Oct 1900, Bellingham, MA, John R. Hinton, b. ca. 1874, PA, son of Charles and Margaret (Serfass) Hinton.[8]
