He married firstly, 23 Mar 1871, Madison Co., IA, Perlina Jane Young,^[2] daughter of William and Martha (Nichols) Young. She was born 1 May 1849, MI, and died 8 Mar 1893. She was buried in Crab Orchard Cemetery, Crab Orchard, NE, or Highland Center Cemetery, Cortland, NE.^[3] Apparently they were divorced.

He married secondly, 19 Sep 1886, Rock Island Co., IL, Emma (Shutes) Ellsworth.^[4] She was born 3 May 1853, Wood Co., WI, and died 8 Oct 1943. She was buried in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery, Buffalo Prairie, IL.^[5] She had married firstly, 30 Jul 1870, Bartley Wilson Ellsworth (1844-1884) She married thirdly, 22 Jan 1896, Muscatine Co., IA, Melancthon Davis Murdock (1835-1913).^[6] She married fourthly, 12 Aug 1914, William Walter Wakeland (1846-1931).
