John W. Whitney (William H.), son of William H. and Mary Ann (Parmenter) Whitney, was born 7 Oct 1843, Princeton, MA,[1] and died 15 Apr 1875, Lunenburg, MA, aged 31 years 6 months 7 days, of consumption.[2]
He married, 7 Sep 1866, Rindge, NH, Mary Ellen May, daughter of Gilman and Adelia (-----) May.[3] She was born 14 Dec 1848, Leominster, MA, and died after 1875, perhaps before 1880.

Edward Warren Whitney, b. 24 Jan 1871, Leominster, MA;[5] d. 20 Feb 1904, Sterling, MA [also recorded in Leominster, MA], aged 33 years 27 days, of pneumonia;[6] m. 29 Nov 1892, Sterling, MA [also recorded as Leominster, MA], Mary Jane Ledingham, b. ca. 1872, Leominster, MA, dau. of George and Isabella (Lawson) Ledingham.[7] She m.(2) 11 Oct 1905, Leominster, MA (recorded Clinton, MA), William J. L. Smith, b. ca. 1878, Scotland, son of William and Jane (Ledingham) Smith.[8] Children: iii. George Walter Whitney, b. 12 Oct 1872, Leominster, MA;[13] m. 27 May 1891, Sterling, MA [also recorded in Leominster, MA], Harriet O. Lett, b. Apr 1874, NJ, dau. of Henry and Ann (Hapgood) Lett.[14] He was a comb maker. Children:
