Family:Whitney, Joseph Edgar (1824-1869)
Joseph Edgar7 Whitney (Thaddeus6, Enos5, John4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Thaddeus6 and Thirza (Washburn) Whitney, was born 16 Jul 1824, Gibson, PA, and died 12 Dec 1869, Gibson, PA, aged 45 years of typhoid fever,[1] and he was buried in the First Gibson Cemetery.
He married, 8 Dec 1847, Gibson, PA, Eliza Ann Parmenter, daughter of William and Darinda (Bennett) Parmenter. She was born 21 Jun 1825, Gibson, PA, and died after 1880.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer . . . . They settled in Gibson . . . . She was living at Gibson in March 1874. He has held the offices of constable, collector, and supervisor of Gibson."

Arletta Whitney, b. 13 Feb 1857; and was living there, at Smiley post-office, in 1900. v. Myrta May Whitney, b. 4 Aug 1862; and was living there, at Smiley post-office, in 1880. vi. Harley Edgar Whitney, b. 3 Oct 1865; and was living there, at Smiley post-office, in 1880; m. ca. 1899, Myrtle Pierce; lived Oneonta, NY, in 1900.
