Joseph Stockbridge7 Whitney (Joseph Stockbridge6, Abraham5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Joseph Stockbridge6 and Betsey (Philbrick) Whitney, was born 16 May 1838, Rome, ME, and died 20 Jul 1909, Augusta, ME.
He "Jr." "of Augusta" married, 20 Aug 1859, Augusta, ME, Esther Prebble "of Winslow".[1] She was born about 1842, and died after 1900.
He, aged 24, enlisted on 25 Aug 1862 as a Private, Co. G, 19th Maine Infantry, and was discharged on 23 May 1865. He was listed as deserted 27 Jun 1863 (place not stated), and returned 15 Aug 1863 (place not stated).
