Joshua6 Whitney (Joshua5, Joshua4, David3, Joshua2, John1), son of Joshua5 and Sally (Cochran) Whitney, was born 26 Feb 1797, Addison, VT, and died 8 Nov 1850, Chautauqua Co., NY.
He married 6 Dec 1818, Addison, VT, Susanna Hinds,[1] daughter of John and Anna (-----) Hinds. She was born 29 Dec 1797, Hanover, NJ, and died 5 Feb 1853, OH.
He resided Addison, VT, and Chautauqua County, NY.

i. Sarah A.7 Whitney, b. 27 Dec 1820, Addison, VT; d. 10 Apr 1846. ii. Mary Elizabeth Whitney, b. 27 Jun 1823, Addison, VT; m. 29 Apr 1841, Hamilton Co., OH, Francis Davis Bridge.[2] They removed to IN by 1846, and Berrien Co., MI, by 1849. iii. George William Whitney, b. 5 Jul 1825, Addison, VT; d. 15 Sep 1904, Leavenworth, KS, in the U.S. National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, of mitral insufficiency;[3] m. 24 Aug 1851, Butler Co., OH, Mary Jane Kyle.[4] His age was given as 78 in 1904, so born about 1826, NY, widowed. He served as a Private and Sergeant in Co. A, 15th Illinois Infantry, and was pensioned, certificate number 846,350.[5] He could be the George Whitney, aged 50, in the 1870 Census of Olathe, Johnson Co., KS, a railroad worker. iv. Julia E. Whitney, b. 12 Jun 1835, Addison, VT; d. 12 Sep 1839.
