Lorin Jerome⁷ Whitney (Joseph⁶, Jonathan⁵, James⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Joseph⁶ and Sophia (Oliver) Whitney, was born 20 Feb 1824, died 4 Jun 1865, Washington, DC, and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

He married, before 1850, Fanny M. Forbes. She was born about Jan 1828, NY, and died after 26 Jun 1905, MN. She married secondly, before 1869, James Prior.

He was a Private in Company I, 2nd Minnesota Infantry, in the Civil war, and was with Sherman when he marched to the sea.
