Nancy6 Whitney (Jonathan5, Zaccheus4, Jonathan3, Jonathan2, John1), daughter of Jonathan5 and Lucy (Smith) Whitney, was born 13 Nov 1784,[1] was baptized 14 Nov 1784, Lancaster, MA,[2] and died 27 Jan 1811, Lancaster, MA, aged 26, of consumption.
Marriage intentions were published 8 Sep 1803, Lancaster, MA, for her and Horace Gates Buttrick.[3] She married, 6 Oct 1803, Lancaster, MA, Horace Gates Buttrick.[4] He married secondly, (intentions 7 Sep 1811, Lancaster, MA) 26 Dec 1811, Lancaster, MA, Mary Barnard.

Sarah Augusta Buttrick, b. 14-15 Jan 1811, Lancaster, MA; d. 15 Jan 1811, Lancaster, MA, aged 12 hours.

Contrary to the probate and vital records above, Pierce erroneously says she m. 23 Apr 1809, Boston, MA, William Bowman, born 31 Aug 1782, Roxbury, MA, and died 1812. The death date is impossible. He actually died 10 Aug 1860, Dorchester, MA, aged 72 years 7 months 11 days, of disease of kidneys, married, born Milton, son of James and Susan (-----) Bowman. This calculated to a birth date about 30 Dec 1787, so Pierce's birth information is also wrong. Boston Vital Records of her marriage call her Nancy White, not Whitney. She d. 1 Aug 1863, Dorchester, MA, aged 73 years 8 months, of apoplexy, widow, born Milton, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Williams) White. She was pretty clearly a White, not a Whitney.
