Family:Whitney, Royal B. (1821-a1850)
Royal B.7 Whitney (Jacob6, Ebenezer5, Amos4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jacob6 and Abigail (Moses) Whitney, was born 18 Aug 1821, Buxton, ME,[1] and died after 1850.
He married, 29 Apr 1846, Rebecca Hamblen, daughter of John and Olive (Murch) Hamblen.[2] She was born 11 Dec 1818, Gorham, ME,[3] and apparently died before 1850.
He married secondly, 18 Aug 1849,[4] or 28 May 1850, Lanesborough, MA, Sarah M. Smith, daughter of Russell and Cynthia (Munson) Smith. She was born about 1828, Stockbridge, MA.[5]
Children of Royal7 and Rebecca (Hamblen) Whitney:
i. Rebecca Olive8 Whitney, b. ca. 1847, North Gorham, ME; d. 1 Apr 1915, Hampton Falls, NH; m. 12 Sep 1871, Haverhill, MA, Alvinza C. Hanson, b. ca. 1847, Manchester, NH, son of Stephen and Nancy G. (Taylor) Hanson, as his second wife.[6]
Children of Royal7 and Sarah M. (Smith) Whitney, if any, unknown.
Notes
There could be confusion with Family:Whitney, Royal B. (1817-1905) of Adams, MA. That man was a carpenter, this one an engineer. Their ages are close, and they both married a wife Sarah M.
Although Royal Whitney was enumerated with his parents in 1850, there was also a Royal P. Whitney enumerated just 6 households away. Apparently he was enumerated twice. If so, his first wife Rebecca Hamblen had died before 1850.
