Russell Rawson⁸ Whitney (Isaac⁷, Ebenezer⁶, Zachariah⁵, Zachariah⁴, Ebenezer³, Richard², John¹), son of Isaac⁷ and Laura (Montague) Whitney , was born 30 Sep 1823, Delhi, NY, and died 26 Apr 1890, Sioux City, IA.

He married, 23 Sep 1849, Bradford, WI, Emily Steele. She was born 20 Aug 1830, and died 17 Oct 1881.

He was at one time engaged in the provision business in Moingona, IA, and later at Sioux City. He resided Sioux City, IA.

iii.	Ella L. Whitney, b. 19 Jun 1855; m. 25 Jul 1872, Hugh Kountz, and d. 25 Feb 1882; resided Sioux City, IA, one child, Vick Bernard.
iv.	Harriett Steele Whitney, b. 17 Oct 1871; m. 14 Aug 1890, James L. Gibbons; resided 411 Cook St., Sioux City, IA. He was b. 9 Sep 1863. Ch.: Leah Emily, b. 30 Aug 1894.
