Family:Whitney, Salmon Deforest (1871-1932)

Salmon Deforest⁹ Whitney (Robert Shaw⁸, Albert Appleton⁷, Appleton Downer⁶, Asa⁵, Joshua⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Robert Shaw⁸ and Emily (Hicks) Whitney, was born 29 Nov 1871, near Rochester, OH, and died 9 Jun 1932 in his daughter Edna's house, Homewood, IL.^[1]

He married, 9 May 1894, Mary Louise Andersen, daughter of Thorvald and Lena Marie (Jamesdtr) Andersen. She was born 12 Nov 1877, Norway, and died 18 Oct 1953, Homewood, IL.

Salmon was a carpenter and house builder. He built many of the older houses in Homewood, including the one in which he lived.

v.	Gladys Marie Whitney, b. 28 Sep 1905, Thornton, IL; d. 8 Jul 1981, Chicago Heights, IL; m. William J. Harty.
vi.	Robert Neville Whitney, b. 23 Sep 1908, Thornton, IL; d. 11 Feb 1943, Blue Island, IL; m. Edna C. Brown.
