Family:Whitney, Silas H. (1813-1887)

Silas H. Whitney, son of Thomas J. and Mary (-----) Whitney (his father was born in England and his mother in South Wales), was born about 14 Jun 1813, Philadelphia PA, and died 4 Aug 1887, Boston, MA, aged 74 years 1 month 20 days, of apoplexy.[1]

He married, date and place unknown, Sarah H. Orcutt, daughter of Malachi and Prudence (Gray) Orcutt, both born Brookville, ME. She was born about March 1815, Brookville or Castine, ME, and died 15 June 1898, Sullivan, ME, aged 83 years, 3 months.[2] Her husband was called "married" and not "widowed" at his death. She is buried in Dorchester, MA.

They lived at 35 Harvard Street, near Washington Street, Dorchester, MA. They were living in the same place after Dorchester was annexed by the City of Boston.

He was a brass finisher.

iii. Clara Elizabeth Whitney, b. 7 Sep 1850, Dorchester, MA;[6] "Clarissa E." d. 18 Sep 1852, Dorchester, MA, aged 2 years, of dropsy.[7]
iv. George A. Fulton Whitney, b. 22 Oct 1852, Dorchester, MA;[8] d. 2 Mar 1874, Boston, MA, aged 21 years 4 months 8 days, of phthisis, clerk.[9].
v. Sarah Caroline Whitney, b. 14 Dec 1854, Dorchester, MA;[10] d. 11 Dec 1879, Boston, MA, aged 24 years 11 months 27 days, of consumption.[11]
vi. Mary W. Whitney, "Mary Whitney Whitney" b. 22 Nov 1857, Dorchester, MA;[12] d. 9 Aug 1858, Dorchester, MA, aged 8 months 18 days, of teething.[13]
