Rev. William6 Whitney (James Rex5, Caleb4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of James Rex5 and Mary (Holland) Whitney, was born 1790, GA, and died 22 Apr 1864, Jefferson Co., MS, where he was buried.

He married firstly, ----- -----. She died s. p. soon after marriage.

He married secondly, Sarah Leggett. She died 1821, at Fayette, MS.

He married thirdly, 31 Jul 1823, Mrs. Mary (Coleman) Smith. She died Jefferson County, MS.

He married fourthly, 1831, Mrs. Henry (Witherspoon) King. She died Meadville, MS, Jul, 1832, s. p.

He resided Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

William6 Whitney and his first wife had no children.

i. James J.7 Whitney, b. 1815, GA, d. Aug 1832, Selserstown, MS.
ii. Caroline Whitney, b. GA; d. 1842, Washington, MS; m. Mar 1832, George W. Weast. She died leaving William, Sarah, George, and one other; all are now deceased.
iii. Mary Ann Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1820; m. 24 Apr 1844, Absalom Spielman; b. 24 Mar 1810, d. 26 Jul 1887, Greenville, OH; 11 ch.
