Family:Whitney, William Riley (c1820-1893)
William Riley Whitney (Chauncey), son of Chauncey and Ann (Clueth/Cluett/Clintt) Whitney, was born circa 1820, NY, baptized 7 Dec 1820, Third Presbyterian Church, Albany, NY, and died 12 April 1893, Washington, DC, aged 73 years. He was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Washington, DC.[1] His stone bears a Masonic symbol.
He married, say 1841, Margaret J. Briare (Driarie per son's death record, or Williams per daughter's death record), daughter of Pierre and Hannah (-----) Briare. She was born about 1821, Albany, NY, and died 8 Feb 1890, Washington, DC, aged 68 years. She was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Washington, DC.[2]
One William Witney served in the Civil War, Degges' Co., 5th Battalion, District of Columbia Infantry, for 3 months, 1861. Whether it was the father or son is not known.

Whitney, b. 5 May 1855, Albany, NY; d. 19 Feb 1920, Washington, DC; m. 31 Oct 1900, Washington, DC, Henry Casey; bur. Glenwood Cemetery, Washington, DC.[7] vi. Pierre M. Whitney, b. ca. 1857, Albany, NY; d. 11 Sep 1884, aged 26 years; unmarried; bur. Glenwood Cemetery, Washington, DC.[8]
