Ebenezer Cutler's Memorial (Loyalist Claim) [PRO A.O. 12/11]:[6]

"One half of the Profits of a Store at Groton in Co partnary with his Brother Jonas Cutler, his yearly Profits were £130 perannun nine year £1350. His Brother Jonas was left in possession in Septmeber 1774, he died in 178_and left a wife.

Claim for the Estate of Zaccheus Cutler his brother. Zaccheus Cutler joined the British army in 1775, and remained within the British Lines and in England until he was lost going from London to South Carolina in 1780.He left no will. He had no Family. There were two Brothers besides Zaccheus and Claiment -

1st. Elisha Cutler, the oldest lives in New England, always friendly to the Americans.
2nd Jonas Cutler, dead without issue - has left a wife - in New England.
3rd Claiment."
Not clear why Eliakim is not mentioned.
Zaccheus' wife died in the 1773, which explains the statement that "he had no family."

Richard C. Wiggin includes Ebenezer and Zaccheus, Loyalists, sons of Capt. Ebenezer in his recent book Embattled Farmers http://embattledfarmers.org/

Zaccheus' wife, Hesadiah Eager, was the sister of Ebenezer's first wife, Miriam Eager. Their brother James was also a Loyalist.

Miriam Eager Cutler died while Ebenezer was in exile. Jonas Cutler was appointed guardian of the six children. Jonas died soon after and Miriam and Hesadiah's mother, Miriam Wheeler Eager, became guardian. It is reported that she and her son(s) brought the children to join Ebenezer in Nova Scotia. While in London, Ebenezer married 20 year old Mary Hicks, the daughter of Lt. Col. Edward Hicks of the 70th Regiment, British Army. (Another divided family. The Hicks had been in America since the early 1600's. Edward purchased a commission in 1757 and was a career officer when the revolution in America began. He was stationed in Nova Scotia. Did he meet Ebenezer during that time? He eventually retired to London and all of his children and descendants are in England .... except Mary who came to Nova Scotia with her husband Ebenezer Cutler.)
