Asa C. Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 9 Mar 1823, Dummerston, VT,[1] and died 14 Apr 1900, aged 77 years 1 month 5 days, of heart disease.[2]

He married firstly, 1 Jan 1851, Brookline, VT,[3] Marcia G. Wellman, daughter of De Louis and Laura (Holden) Wellman. She was born 23 May 1829, Brookline, VT, and died 22 Mar 1867, Dummerston, VT.[4]

He married secondly, between 1867 and 1870, Delia D. (Howe) Pike, daughter of Spooner and Phebe (Briggs) Howe. She was born about 1840, Jamaica, VT, and 10 Jan 1909, Templeton, MA, aged 69 years, of involution melancholia.[5] She had married firstly, 18 Feb 1861, Wardsboro, VT, Lyman B. Pike.

ii. Frank N. Whitney, b. ca. 1849, NY; m. 15 Jun 1875, Dummerston, VT, Jennie Arling.[6]
ii. Mary E. Whitney, b. ca. 1854, Dummerston, VT; "of Putney" m. 31 Mar 1873, Dummerston or Putney, VT, Frank O. Downs, b. 1843, Enfield, NH, son of Park and Bonda (Chamberlain) Downs.[7]
iii. Sherman Asa, b. 1 Jan 1865, Dummerston, VT;[8] d. 9 Jul 1865, Dummerston, VT.[9]
iv. Lowell Henry, b. 20 Sep 1866, Dummerston, VT.[10]
