Col. Asa Watrous7 Whitney (Appleton Downer6, Asa5, Joshua4, William3, Joshua2, John1), born Pittsfield, Massachusetts, 11 Jan 1810; married at Pittsfield, Ohio, 19 Feb 1838, Mary Ann Wightman; born 23 Mar 1818; died Bellevue, Ohio, 26 Apr 1891.
Col. Asa Waltrous Whitney, son of Milton Whitney, was a colonel in the Ohio Militia, and was called upon to name the town of Pittsfield, Lorain County, Ohio, when it was organized as a town; was elected town clerk and held that office for seven years; was later elected justice of the peace and held that office for six years. He was a kind man to the poor and highly respected. He died 23 May 1868; resided Pittsfield, Ohio.
