Augustus Waters7 Whitney (James6, Stephen5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of James6 and Margaret (Lewis) Whitney, was born 2 Jul 1824, Poundridge, NY, and died 4 May 1868, Norwalk, OH, where he was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.

He married, 6 Jun 1850, Norwalk, OH, Almaria Juliet Wait, daughter of Ezra and Experience Keep (Felt) Wait. She was born 24 Apr 1831, Bethany, NY, and died after 1880.

Phoenix says the following:

"... a farmer; moved with his mother, about 1829, to Dewitt, N.Y., and thence, in 1841, to Norwalk, Ohio, where, in 1845, they bought and settled on a heavily-timbered farm, which he cleared and cultivated the rest of his life .... She was still living in 1874, on the farm that he reclaimed from the wilderness."

i. George Loomis8 Whitney, b. 9 Apr 1851; was living at Livingston, CA, in Jul 1874, unmarried.
ii. Louise Janet Whitney, b. 9 Jan 1853; m. 7 Mar 1871, Norwalk, OH, Charles Walter Bates, son of Walter and Susan (Mead) Bates, b. 9 Jul 1850, Clarksfield, OH, a salesman. They settled in Medina Street, Norwalk, OH, and were living there in 1874.
iii. Ida Almira Whitney, b. 28 Dec 1854; m. 4 Nov 1874, Norwalk, OH, Shepherd Jay Patrick, son of Benjamin Dean and Eliza Purdy (Maxwell) Patrick, b. 16 Feb 1852, Norwalk, OH; a locomotive engineer. He was living at 9 Newton Street, Norwalk, OH, in Dec 1874; and was employed on the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad. She is a communicant of St. Paul's Church.
iv. James Augustus Whitney, b. 24 Jun 1857; and was living in Norwalk, OH, with his mother, in 1874.
v. Mary Alice Whitney, b. 6 Sep 1859; and was living in Norwalk, OH, with her mother, in 1874.
vi. Lucien Everett Whitney, b. 14 Oct 1861; and was living in Norwalk, OH, with his mother, in 1874, d. 18 Nov 1942, Lawrence Co., AR.
vii. Eben Eugene Whitney, b. 26 Oct 1864; d. 16 Oct 1865, Norwalk, OH, and was buried there, in Woodlawn Cemetery.
viii. Merta Margaret Whitney, b. 28 Mar 1867; and was living there, with her mother, in 1874.
