Family:Whitney, George Albert (1842-a1920)

George Albert⁷ Whitney (Charles Edwin⁶, Josiah⁵, Eliasaph⁴, Nathan³, John², Henry¹), son of Charles Edwin⁶ and Rosanna (Mather) Whitney, was born 2 Jul 1842, Darien, CT, and died after 1874.

He married, 24 Nov 1868, Tarentum, PA, Elizabeth Antoinette Ferris, daughter of Hanford and Margaret (Hare) Ferris. She was born 12 Sep 1845, Tarentum, PA, and died after 1874.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a cooper . . . . They settled in Darien; and in Jan. 1873, went to Tarentum, where they were residing temporarily in July 1874, intending to return to Darien the following Winter. He enlisted at Darien, 26 July 1862, as a private, in Co. B, 17th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry; and was mustered out 19 July 1865, as a corporal, having taken part in the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburgh, Charlotte, and several skirmishes in Florida."

ii.	Charles Hanford Whitney, b. 25 Nov 1870, Darien, CT.
iii.	Jenny Whitney, b. 31 May 1873, Tarentum, PA; d. 31 Jul 1873, Tarentum, PA; bur. Tarentum Cemetery.
iv.	Leroy Ferris Whitney, b. 30 Oct 1874, Tarentum, PA.
