George Albert7 Whitney (Charles Edwin6, Josiah5, Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Charles Edwin6 and Rosanna (Mather) Whitney, was born 2 Jul 1842, Darien, CT, and died after 1874.
He married, 24 Nov 1868, Tarentum, PA, Elizabeth Antoinette Ferris, daughter of Hanford and Margaret (Hare) Ferris. She was born 12 Sep 1845, Tarentum, PA, and died after 1874.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a cooper . . . . They settled in Darien; and in Jan. 1873, went to Tarentum, where they were residing temporarily in July 1874, intending to return to Darien the following Winter. He enlisted at Darien, 26 July 1862, as a private, in Co. B, 17th Reg., Conn. Vol. Infantry; and was mustered out 19 July 1865, as a corporal, having taken part in the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburgh, Charlotte, and several skirmishes in Florida."
