James Frothingham⁸ Whitney (Nathaniel Ruggles⁷, Nathaniel Ruggles⁶, Simon⁵, Daniel⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Nathaniel Ruggles⁷ and Sally (Stone) Whitney,^[1] was born 2 Mar 1813, Watertown, MA,^[2] baptized 18 Jul 1813, Watertown, MA,^[3] and died 17 Dec 1886.^[4]

He married, 1847, 2nd Baptist Church, Boston, MA, Mary Henderson Eskildson, daughter of George and Mary (Willson) Eskildson. She was born 13 Jan 1821, NY, and died 21 Dec 1912.
