Family:Whitney, John (1807-1888)

John⁷ Whitney (Charles⁶, John⁵, (poss.) Samuel⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Charles⁶ and Rachel (Pattee) Whitney, was born about 6 Mar 1807, ME, and died 14 Aug 1888, Exeter, ME, aged 81 years 5 months 8 days.^[1] He was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, ME.^[2]

He married 16 Mar 1837, Pittsfield, ME, Sarah Jane Pushor, daughter of David and Nancy (Chase) Pochard/Pushaw/Pushor.^[3] She was born 27 Nov 1818, Pittsfield, ME, and died 11 Jul 1903, Bangor, ME, aged 85 years 8 months.^[4] She was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, ME.^[5]

Notes

That his father was a certain Charles Whitney is revealed in the cemetery records. That it was the one cited above is highly likely, given the histories of other men of the name in Maine, and the fact he gave the names Charles and Rachel to two children.
