John Lory⁸ Whitney (Charles⁷, Henry⁶, John⁵, Abraham⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of Charles⁷ and Roxana Malvina (Palmer) Whitney, was born 12 Nov 1848, East Townsend, OH, and died before 1900.

He married, 24 Nov 1870, Bluffton, IN, Clara Bell Borden, daughter of John and Mary (Satterthwaite) Borden. She was born 27 Dec 1849, Xenia, OH, and died after 1880.

He was a wholesale dealer in lumber, in company with his brother Calvin, at 22 Summit Street, Toledo, Ohio; and was living at Bluffton, IN, in 1873, without children.
