Josiah5 Whitney (David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of David4 and Rebecca (Fillebrown) Whitney, was born 22 Nov 1730, Waltham, MA,[1] and died 3 Dec 1800, Waltham, MA.[2]

Josiah married, 15 Jun 1762, Waltham, MA, Sarah Lawrence,[3] daughter of John and Mary (Hammond) Lawrence. She was born 21 Jul 1736[4] or 1737, Waltham, MA, and died 14 Sep 1794, Waltham, MA, aged 59 years. There is mention in the Waltham VR of a Sarah Whitney death in 1795 from a gravestone record.[5] Not mentioned in the will of husband in 1799, so clearly died before that year. On 9 Jan 1801, Waltham, MA, a receipt was given by Sarah Whitney, a daughter of Josiah Whitney. On 23 Feb 1801, Waltham, MA, a receipt was given by Josiah Whitney, a son of Josiah Whitney. On 7 Apr 1801, Waltham, MA, his will was proved. On 7 Apr 1801, Waltham, MA, executor's bond was posted by Jonathan Whitney, yeoman, of Waltham, with Amos Smith, yeoman, and David Wellington, gentleman, both of Waltham, sureties. On 8 Jun 1801, Waltham, MA, a receipt was given by Lucy Whitney, a daughter of Josiah Whitney. On 8 Jun 1801, Waltham, MA, a receipt given by Anna Whitney, a daughter of Josiah Whitney. On 8 Jun 1801, Waltham, MA, a receipt was given by Amos and Rhoda Smith, a daughter of Josiah Whitney.
