Julius J.⁸ Whitney (Jonas Prescott⁷, Josiah⁶, Josiah⁵, David⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Jonas Prescott⁷ and Rebecca (Piper) Whitney, was born 28 May 1836, Ashby, MA, and died 16 Jun 1925, Fitchburg, MA. He was buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA.^[1]

He married firstly, 25 Feb 1864, Boston, MA, Harriett A. Downe, both of Fitchburg, daughter of William S. and Betsey (-----) Downe.^[2] She was born 23 Jul 1838, Fitchburg, MA, and died 17 Dec 1865, Fitchburg, MA, aged 27 years 4 months 24 days, of bronchitis.^[3]

He married secondly, 18 Oct 1866, Mary Jones⁸ Whitney, daughter of Theodore⁷ and Betsey (Wheeler) Whitney. She was born 2 Jun 1843, Westminster, MA, and died after 1880.

He was a Sergeant, Co. D, 21st Massachusetts Infantry.

He resided Brattleboro, VT.
