Matthias5 Whitney ([prob.] Joshua4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), probably son of Joshua4 and [?Joanna?] (-----) Whitney, was born 19 Apr 1757, Hancock, MA, and died 7 Oct 1851. He was buried in Otis Cemetery, Fort Ann, NY.[1]

He married firstly, about 1782-3, Dorcas Vaughan, daughter of David and Mary (Wightman) Vaughan. She was born 1762, and died 12 Apr 1793, Hancock, MA, aged 31 years.[2]

He married secondly, 1793, Olive Doty, daughter of Silas and Susannah (Bump) Doty. She was born 12 Jul 1761, Amenia, Dutchess County, NY, and died 26 Jan 1844. She was buried in Otis Cemetery, Fort Ann, NY.[3]

Resided Hancock, MA, Granville and Fort Ann, NY.
