Moses Sawyer6 Whitney (Silas6, Joshua5, Eleazer4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of Silas6, was born 13 Jan 1826, Henniker, NH,[1] and died 8 May 1863, in Civil War, aged 37 years; monument in Wells Cemetery, Canaan, NH, but buried in Davenport, IA.
He married, before 1853, Mary Hoyt. She was born about 1823, NH, and died 12 Oct 1883, Chickasaw Co., IA. She married secondly, between 1863 and 1870, Joseph Straw.
They resided Deerfield, IA.
Child of Moses Sawyer6 and Mary (Hoyt) Whitney:
i. Carlos8 Whitney, b. ca. 1853, IA; d. after 1860. ii. Lincoln D. Whitney, b. 4 Aug 1861, IA; d. 12 Apr 1944, Los Angeles, CA; m. 1900, Eliza (Biggs) Johnstone. No children appear in census records.
