Nathan⁵ Whitney (Thomas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Thomas⁴ and Hannah (Smith) Whitney,^[1] was born 23 Jul 1726, Watertown, MA,^[2] baptized 3 Mar 1728, Watertown, MA,^[3], and died after 1773.^[4]

He "of Spencer-District" married 20 Feb 1754, Grafton, MA, Abigail Marstass "of Grafton."^[5] She was born say 1733.

iv.	Jonathan Whitney, b. 16 Jul 1761, Hartford, VT; b. 16 Jul 1761, Spencer, MA; m.(1) 3 Mar 1785, Halifax, VT Mary Woodard; m.(2) 19 Aug 1786, Hartford, VT, Lucy Woodard.
v.	David Whitney, b. 2 Oct 1762, Brookfield, MA; b. 2 Oct 1763, Brookfield, MA; d. 17 Sep 1838, Bolton, MA.

• 1791, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Jonathan Whitney, 1 male over 16, 2 males 0-15, and 3 females. This was Nathan's son.
• 1791, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Nathan Whitney, 1 male over 16 and 2 females. This was Nathan's son.
• 1791, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Jonathan Whitney, 1 male over 16, 2 males 0-15, and 3 females. Yes, there are really two Jonathan Whitney individuals with the same counts enumerated in this town. It is hard to explain this, unless it is an error.
• 1800, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Whitney, Jonathan, 1 male 26-44, 1 male 10-15, 3 males 0-9, 1 female 26-44, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 0-9. This was Nathan's son.
• 1800, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Nathan Whitney, ` male over 45, 1 female over 45, and 1 female 10-15. Presumably this was Nathan's son, but it could be the father.
