Samuel Banks7 Whitney (John6, Samuel5, Samuel4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of John6 and Julia (Banks) Whitney, was born 3 Jul 1823, Weston, CT, and died 30 Mar 1889, Pittsfield, MA, aged 65 years 10 months, of herpuria hemorrhaegem.[1]

He married, 13 Nov 1845, New York, NY, Mary E. Doty, daughter of Zebulon and Hannah (Whitman) Doty. She was born 9 May 1821, Cold Springs Harbor, NY, and died after 1870 and before 1880.

She is a descendant of Edward Doty, a "Mayflower" passenger in 1620, in this way:
