William Hawkins7 Whitney (Richard6, Richard5, Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Richard6 and Adeline (Jones) Whitney, was born 16 Mar 1839, Chautauqua, NY, and died 1915. He was buried in Bemus Point Cemetery, Ellery, NY.
He married, 11 Nov 1866, Ellery, NY, Helen Mar Copp, daughter of Edward and Jane Miles (Bemus) Copp. She was born 31 May 1842, Ellery Centre, in Ellery, NY, and died early 1900. She was buried in Bemus Point Cemetery, Ellery, NY.
He married secondly, about 1909, Mary L. -----. She was born about 1846, NY, and died after 1910.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a dealer in real estate . . . . They lived in his father's house till 1862; and since that time, in Jamestown, or Mayville, N.Y.--at the latter place, in May 1874. He was then owner and commander of the steamboat "Col. Wm. Phillips," on Chautauqua Lake."
