From: "Cliff Whitney Sr." <mrcliff -at- mindspring.com> Subject: [WHITNEY-L] MY LINE Date: Mon, 09 Aug 1999 19:38:26 +0000 Dear Whitney Rooters, Thank you all for helping me learn about many ways to search my family tree. I have been, as they say, lurking at my computer many, many months just having a good time with the chase. Mr. Ward, you are a treasure.Thank you for all the guidance given to others that I have been reading.I don't see how you do it! I'll try to keep this short. Try. It looks like I have succeeded in tracing my line of Whitney's to John and Elinor. Frank Douglas Whitney, my grandfather, born 24,june 1868 was from Herkimer NY. His father, Perry Percy Whitney, born 1836 in the town of Vernon,Oneida Co. NY. He was a Civil War vet. in the 117th NY VOL. (Oneida 4th) Perry's father was Joseph Whitney, born 1777 (probably at Dudley, Worcester Co. MA.) Later, moved with his father to Herkimer,NY the German Flatts area. And then Joseph settled in the town of Vernon,Oneida Co.NY. Joseph's father was Phinehas (Phineas) Whitney, born 24, June 1740 in Spencer, MA. And then it is Joshua, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, John, John. (Thank you Mr. Pierce) I have lots of names, dates, births, deaths, places if anyone thinks they are part of this. And I'm really not done. There's much more to find about these families. Thanks again to you all, -- Cliff Whitney 6614 Candlewood Drive Charlotte, NC 28210 Mrcliff -at- mindspring.com
