Descendant of Lieut. Joshua Whitney and of Capt. James Colt. Daughter of Wiliam Whitney Cone and Orrinda Lamphere, his wife. Granddaughter of Benjamin Bishop Cone and Lucy Whitney Colt, his wife. Gr.-granddaughter of William Williams Colt (1775-1847) and Huldah Whitney (1779-1858), his wife. Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of James Colt and Miriam Williams (1756-1811), his wife; Joshua Whitney and Anna Ashley (1748-1822), his wife, m. 1770. Joshua Whitney, (1745-1808), entered the army as sergeant; was promoted lieutenant 1780, and served to the close of the war. He was an original member of the Cincinnati of Connecticut. He was born in Canaan, Conn., removed to Pittsfield, Mass., where he died. Also No. 25294. James Colt, (1740-1809), commanded a company of minute men. He was appointed on the Committee of Inspection of Pittsfield, to enforce resolutions of the Continental Congress.
