I am one of eight children of Charles Orlando Whitney. We have been unsuccessful in getting beyond our oldest known ancestor, Charles Whitney, b. 1835 in Mass., probably Worcester. We think his father and mother are Jacob and Sarah, based on circumstantial evidence in census. His brother was Jacob Alonzo Whitney. My DNA test result shows only one marker removed from the original John Whitney.
