Adolphus M.8 Whitney (Nathan7, Daniel6, David5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Nathan7 and Mary (Atwood) Whitney, was born about 1837, Hampden, ME, and died 6 May 1864, Spotsylvanis Courthouse, VA, of wounds he received in battle during the Civil War.

He married firstly, 30 Oct 1861, Bangor, Penobscot Co., ME, Harriet A. Monk, "both of Bangor", ME,[1] daughter of Benjamin and Susan (Wire) Monk. She was born 2 Aug 1833, Dixmont, ME, and died 15 Nov 1914, Hampden Highlands, ME.

Harriet A. "of Dixmont" married secondly, 9 Oct 1870, Dixmont, ME, Melvin B. Brann "of Vassallborough".[2] Melvin died 10 Sep 1875, Auburn, ME.

Harriet married thirdly, 30 Nov 1877, Hampden, ME, George F. Pierce.

Harriet married fourthly, 5 Dec 1885, Bangor, ME, David Baker. He died 2 Aug 1908, Hampden, ME. Both he and Harriet are buried in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden, ME.
