Nancy8 Whitney (Ephraim7, Ephraim6, Amos5, Amos4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), daughter of Ephraim7 and Edith (Ross) Whitney, was born 30 May 1827, Urichsville, Mill Twp., Tuscawaras Co., OH, and died 30 Sep 1913, Wyanet, Bureau Co., IL.

She married 29 Sep 1857, West Bureau, Bureau Co., IL, Apollos Warner "Warren" Ballard. He was born about 1834, NY, and died Mar 1900, IL.

Obituary: Nancy Whitney Ballard

["Bureau County Republican", Thursday, 2 Oct 1913]

"In the passing away of Mrs. Nancy Whitney Ballard at her home in the west part of town last Tuesday afternoon, Wyanet lost one of its oldest citizens. She had only been ill a short time and not until the last day or two had her illness been considered serious. The deceased was born at Euricksville, O., May 30, 1827 [should be Urichsville]. She was united in marriage to A. W. Ballard at West Bureau Sept. 29, 1857 and resided there until about thirty-five years ago when they moved to Wyanet. To this union were born four daughters, May, Edith, Rosamond and Jessie of whom only Miss Edith survives. Mr. Ballard passed away in March 1900. The decedent was a member of the Congregational Church. Besides the daughter above mentioned, Mrs. Ballard is survived by three brothers, one of whom was our former townsman, William Whitney, now of Coer d'Alene, Idaho. Another resides in Nebraska and the other in Oregon. Her only sister, Mrs. Peck, lives in Los Angeles, Cal. the funeral was from the Congregational Church Thursday afternoon the pastor. Rev. Charles Elliott officiating. The interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery."
