Francis Rowland7 Whitney (Jacob Hasbrook6, Elias5, Jeremiah4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Jacob Hasbrook6 and Catharine (Wixon) Whitney, was born 9 Dec 1830, 70 King Street, New York, NY, and died after 1868.
He married 8 Apr 1863, 48 Charlton Street, New York, NY, Sophronia Arnold Terrel, daughter of Nathaniel and Sarah (-----) Terrel. She was born 27 Nov 1825, Wallkill, NY, and died after 1868.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a printer . . . . He lived at 42 Watts Street, New York, in 1868. The following notice of him is from the Monmouth Enquirer, published at Freehold, N.J., 31 Jan. 1867. "Francis R. Whitney is a true and faithful soldier of the late war for the Union; he enlisted at the outbreak of the Rebellion, in the 49th Illinois Regiment, and served under Grant, in the west; he was severely wounded at the terrible battle of Shiloh, or Pittsburgh Landing, and at Fort Donelson. His wounds are of such a nature that they cannot be entirely cured. This gallant soldier is a steady and industrious man, and a printer by profession."
Children of Francis Rowland7 and Sophronia Arnold (Terrel) Whitney:
i. George Washington Francis Whitney, b. 15 May 1864, 48 Charlton Street, Richmond Hill, New York, NY. ii. John Thomas Whitney, b. 27 Jan 1868, 42 Watts Street, New York, NY.
