Joshua⁵ Whitney (Joshua⁴, William³, Joshua², John¹), son of Joshua⁴ and Anna (?Blodgett?) Whitney was born 16 Jan 1744/45 at Preston, CT^[1], baptized 20 Jan 1745 at Preston, CT and died 1808^[2].

Joshua married Anna Ashley, daughter of Noah and Miriam (Porter) Ashley, 9 Jan 1770 at Salisbury, CT; husband "of Salisbury", wife "of Sheffield", by John Ashley, J.P.

Anna Ashley was born on 20 Feb 1748 at Warren, MA.

i.	Noah Ashley6 Whitney, b. 26 Dec 1770 at Salisbury, CT; m. Olive Dorwin 26 Oct 1796 at Lanesborough, MA.
ii.	Anne Whitney, b. 6 Jul 1774 at Canaan, CT; m. Samuel Hyde 16 Apr 1793; d. 12 Feb 1851 at age 76.
iii.	Joshua Whitney, b. 6 Jan 1777 at Canaan, CT; m. Esther Clark.
iv.	Huldah Whitney, b. 8 Sep 1779 at Canaan, CT; m. William Williams Colt; d. 28 Jan 1858 at Pittsford, NY, at age 78.
v.	Porter Whitney, b. 8 Nov 1781; d. 18 Jun 1801 at age 19.
vi.	Asa Whitney, b. 23 Feb 1784 at Canaan, CT; m. Betsey Childs 11 Mar 1806 at Canaan, CT; d. 18 May 1860 at age 76.
vii.	William Whitney, b. 21 May 1786; d. 12 Jul 1787 at age 1.
viii.	Wealthy Whitney, b. 6 Jan 1788; m. Levi Goodrich 27 Feb 1806; d. 24 Aug 1858 at age 70.
ix.	Charlotte Whitney, b. 7 Apr 1792; d. 22 Aug 1865 at age 73. She and Charlotte Whitney may be the same person.
