Sergt. Solomon Blair7 Whitney (Peter6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Peter6 and Mary (Blair) Whitney, was born 1785, Chester, MA, and died 20 Jun 1825, Sackett's Harbor, NY.

He married, 1806, Detroit, MI, Mary Ware. She died 6 Mar 1865, Cannon, MI.

He was born in Chester, Massachusetts, and was a cordwainer by trade. Emigrating west he married at Detroit, Michigan. Before his marriage he enlisted in Boston in the army and was stationed at Detroit, Michigan, from 1805 to 1812. At the breaking out of the was of 1812 he was appointed Sergeant in Captain Dyson's Company of Artillery and participated in the battle at Brownstown. He was one of the men surrendered by General Hull, was taken prisoner and transferred to Halifax, Nova Scotia. When released he went to Boston, Massachusetts, and thence to Albany, New York, and to the northern frontier and served to the close of the war, when he returned to Albany and re-enlisted in the Second Regt. U. S. Infantry, and was sent to Sackett's Harbor. He was appointed Q. M. Sergt., and remained there until his death in 1825. He is buried there. He resided Sackett's Harbor, New York.

v. William E. Whitney, b. 9 Nov 1821; m. Hannah L. Pratt.

Neither Solomon nor Mary has been found in any census record.
