Seventh Generation.
(Daniels) Erwin,1 of Madrid, where he was born 17 March 1806. They dwelt in Madrid till 28 Sept. 1833; and then moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they were living, at 803 Lake Street, in Ap. 1874. He was coroner of Cuyahoga Co., Ohio, in 1856, and street-commissioner of Cleveland, in 1859.
2800 II. Julia Ann Hawes, b. in Hamilton, now Waddington, N. Y., 15 July 1815; married at Newburgh, Ohio, 13 July 1836, Archibald Marshall, captain of a steamboat, son of John and Jennet (Given) Marshall, who came from Scotland in 1800, and settled in Lisbon, N. Y., where he was born 1 May 1807. They dwelt in Monroe, Michigan, for three years; and then moved to Clayton, N. Y., where they were living in Ap. 1874. 8059
2801 III. Emily Jane Hawes, b. in Louisville, N. Y., 15 Sept. 1818; married at Clayton, N. Y., 15 Sept 1857, John Johnston, gentleman, son of William and Ann (Randolph) Johnston, of Clayton, formerly of Watertown, N. Y., where he was born. They settled in Clayton, and were living there in Ap. 1874, without children. He has been supervisor of Clayton.
2802 IV. Charles Lorenzo Hawes, b. in Williamsburgh (another account says Osnaburg, near the battle-ground of Crysler's Fields), Upper Canada, 6 Sept 1819; settled, about 1843, in Clayton, N. Y., and there married, 20 Jan. 1848, Catharine Johnston, who was born at Sacket's Harbor, N. Y., 11 Sept. 1818, dau. of William and Ann (Randolph) Johnston, the latter residing in Clayton at the time of her marriage. He died at Clayton, 26 May 1872, and was buried there. She was living at Clayton in May 1874. 8062

2803 I. Eliza Ann Whitney, b. at Williamsburgh, Upper Canada, 12 Sept 1817; married at Bedford, Ohio, 25 Sept 1842, Bridgam Alexander Taft, an eclectic physician and surgeon, son of Royal and Molly (Paine) Taft, of Uxbridge, Mass., where he was born 13 Dec. 1815. They dwelt in Douglas, Mass., from 1845 till 12 Oct 1872; and then moved to Portsmouth, Ohio, where they were living in May 1874. 8067
2804 II. Charles Anson Whitney, b. at Montreal, Lower Canada, 2 Jan. 1820; died unmarried, at Commerce, Mich., 29 Ap. 1846, and was buried there.
  1 John Erwin was a soldier in the 43d Reg. of Infantry, in the war of 1812, and was present at the taking of Little York, Canada. His wife, Mary Daniels, was born at New London, Conn., in 1795.
