5915 VII. George Edwin Whitney, b. at Philadelphia, Penn., 9 Nov. 1839; and lived there in 1868.

5916 I. Sarah Elizabeth Whitney, b. at Wilton, Conn., 22 Sept. 1829; married at South Salem, N.Y., by Rev. Mr. Frame, Congregational, 28 Sept 1846, to John Davenport, a clerk and collector, born at Norwalk, Conn., 28 May 1822, son of Samuel and Susan (Betts) Davenport, of Wilton.1 They lived at 1293 Fulton Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y., in July 1868. He enlisted, 31 March 1864. in the 25th Reg., N.Y. Vol. Cavalry; was soon appointed sergeant; and was discharged 7 July 1865. His regiment was, for a short time, in Gen. Custer's Brigade, and most of the time in Virginia, under Gen. Sheridan, and was in thirteen engagements and many skirmishes. 14123

5918 III. Helen Eugenia Whitney, b. in Madison Street, New York, 22 Oct 1833; married at Wilton, Conn., 21 Oct 1855, John Raymond Comstock, born at Wilton Centre, 13 Sept 1825, son of Nathan and Clarissa Comstock. They lived at Wilton; where he was the station-agent of the Danbury and Norwalk Railroad in Nov. 1874. 14132
5919 IV. Thomas Eben Whitney, b. in Walker Street, New York, 1 March 1836; a manufacturer of clothing; married at Port Chester, N.Y., by Rev. Henry Benedict, Presbyterian, 4 July 1857, to Harriet Isabella Benedict, born at Wilton, Conn., 13 Sept 1836, dau. of Frederick Reed and Mary Ann (Osborn) Benedict. She died at Wilton, 10 Feb. 1859, and was buried there. He was married (2d), at New York, by Rev. Henry W. Bellows, D.D., Unitarian, 1 Dec. 1859, to Antoinette Hay Griffin, born at 78 Gold Street, New York, 16 July 1838, dau. of Philip Nelson and Antoinette De Graves (Hay) Griffin, afterward of 174 Lexington Avenue, New York. He was living, in June 1868, at 21 North Tenth Street, Philadelphia, Penn.; and in Dec. 1868, at Smyrna, Delaware. 14133
5920 V. William Everdell Whitney, b. at New York City, 24 Nov. 1838; died 19 Oct. 1843.
