He married 7 Aug 1894, New York City, NY, Emily Maria Abby (Merrian) Kenniston, daughter of Benjamin and Emily (Dinert) Merrian. She died Aug 1916, Kensington Park, San Diego, CA. She had married firstly, ----- Kenniston.
Ai was a Civil War veteran, and received a pension from the U.S. government.
