Benjamin F.8 Whitney (Obediah Higgins7, Levi6, Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Obediah Higgins and Louisa (Bangs) Whitney, was born 8 Mar 1838, Standish, ME, and died 30 Dec 1927, Gorham, ME.
He married, about 1862, Relay House, MD, Frances A. "Fannie" Elder, daughter of Reuben and Ruth M. (Smith) Elder. She was born Jul 1836, Gorham, ME, and died 1910, Gorham, ME.
Benjamin is buried in the Eastern Cemetery, Gorham, ME.
Benjamin was a Civil War veteran who received a pension from the U.S. government. In 1860 he resided in Gorham in the home of the Hawkes family. He was a clerk, probably in the Hawkes grocery store. After the war he was a shoemaker.
