Granville Whitney (Ammi Ruhamah, James, [poss.] Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Ammi Ruhamah and Hannah H. (Hall) Whitney, was born 23 Feb 1831, Falmouth, ME, and died 10 Dec 1898, Boston, MA, aged 67 years 9 months 17 days, of disease of the liver.[1]
He married 23 Oct 1855, Boston, MA, Matilda A. Clayton, daughter of Bartholomew and Mary (Tarr) Clayton.[2] She was born 23 Apr 1832, Freeman, ME, and died 12 Dec 1916, Hanson, MA.
In 1856 he was a corn merchant living at 8 Billings Ct., Boston, MA. In 1861 he was a trader living at 4 Billings Ct., Boston, MA. In 1898 he was a merchant living at 106 Dartmouth St., Boston, MA.
