Hezekiah Whitney (Alexander, James, [poss.] Isaac⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Alexander and Barbara (Winslow) Whitney, was born 12 Oct 1822, Cumberland, ME, and died 12 Jun 1895.

Marriage intentions were published 17 May 1853, Falmouth, ME, for him "Mr." "of Gray" and "Miss" Mary Ellen Merrill "of Falmouth".^[1] He married, 17 Jun 1853, Mary Ellen Merrill, daughter of Daniel and Dorcas (Merrill) Merrill. She was born 26 Aug 1837, Falmouth, ME, and died 31 Oct 1908, Gray, ME.

i.	Celia Emmeline Whitney, b. 9 Aug 1855, ME; d. May 1916.
ii.	Sumner Whitney, b. 9 Apr 1857, ME; d. after 1880, then unmarried.

iv.	Leonora Whitney, b. 3 Aug 1866, Gray, ME; d. 29 Oct 1939; m. 27 Mar 1895, Gray, ME, William Buxton Sweetser.
