Joseph7 Whitney (Levi6, Abel5, Naham4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Levi6 and Happy (Higgins) Whitney, was born 28 Dec 1813, Standish, ME,[1] was baptized 1 Sep 1815, Standish, ME,[2] and died 8 Dec 1895, prob. North Berwick, ME.
He married 9 Apr 1837, Fryeburg, ME, Harriet Charlotte Morse, daughter of Samuel and Harriet (-----) Morse. She was born about 1813, NH, or Roxbury, MA, and died 9 May 1892, Lowell, MA, aged 79 years 1 month, of septicaemia.[3]
Joseph and Harriet are buried in the Dolloff Road Cemetery, Standish, ME.
Rev. Joseph Whitney was a Free Will Baptist Minister.

(int. 15 Jun 1859, Standish, ME[4]) 22 Jun 1859, "Mr."Lyman Shaw, "both of Standish";[5] buried in the Dolloff Road Cemetery, Standish, ME. ii. Nathan F. Whitney, b. 7 Jul 1840, poss. Standish, ME; d. 9 Aug 1862, Cedar Mountain, VA; unmarried. He is buried in the Dolloff Road Cemetery in Standish, ME. He was a Civil War casualty. His parents received pensions from the U.S. government.[6] iii. Lucetta M. Whitney, b. ca. 1844, poss. Standish, ME; d. after 1850. iv. Addie F. Whitney, b. 1853, Windham, ME; m. 23 Dec 1873, Tuftonborough, NH, Samuel H. Gilman.[7] She does not appear in the family in 1860 or 1870, and is not found either year.

- Nathan F. Whitney enlisted in Co. E, 10th Maine Regiment at Portland, ME (Cape Elizabeth) on 4 October 1861. He died at Cedar Mountain, VA on 9 August 1862 from a gunshot wound. No widow or children.
