Leonard Whitney, parentage unknown, was born 28 May 1812, Campton, NH, and died 23 Jul 1887, Conway, NH, aged 74 years 1 month 25 days, of heart disease. He was buried in North Conway Cemetery, North Conway, NH.[1]
He married firstly, Celia Hart, daughter of Thomas and Zoa (Randall) Hart. She was born about 1826, NH, and died 16 Sep 1906, Bath, ME, aged 80 years. Apparently they were divorced, because she married secondly, 22 Sep 1856, Eaton, NH, Joseph L. Jenness.[2]
He married secondly, 12 Jun 1859, Jackson, NH, Mary A. Douglas,[3] daughter of Augustus and Calista (Wirtman) Douglas. She was born about 1827, Calais, ME, and died 1 Jan 1896, North Conway, NH. She was buried in North Conway Cemetery, North Conway, NH.[4]
Promoted to Full Captain on 26 Nov 1862. Commissioned an officer in the U.S. Volunteers Quartermaster's Dept Infantry Regiment on 26 Nov 1862. Mustered out on 31 May 1866.
