Family:Whitney, Walter (1808-1870)

Walter7 Whitney (Hezekiah Wells6, Walter5, Samuel4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Hezekiah Wells6 and Rebecca (McWilliams) Whitney, was born 22 Jul 1808, probably Greenbush, NY, and died 24 Jan 1870, Milwaukee, WI, aged 61 years of peritonitis;[1] he was buried in Forest Home Cemetery.

He married, 30 Oct 1833, Albany, NY, Phebe Ann Sweeney. She was born about 1813-1814, NY, and died after 1880.

Phoenix says the following:

"He was a captain in the 246th Reg., 61st Brigade, 9th Div., N. Y. S. Militia; and resigned 15 Jan. 1842."

i. Walter Robert8 Whitney, b. ca. 1836, NY; served in Company B, 1st Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteers, and in Company L, 1st Wisconsin Artillery; and was living at Milwaukee, WI, in 1875.
ii. Louisa C. Whitney, b. ca. 1842, NY, m. Julius Wechselberg; and was living at 216 Fourteenth Street, Milwaukee, WI, in Apr 1875.
iii. Frances H. Whitney, b. ca. 1845, NY.
iv. Ella Whitney, b. ca. 1847, NY.
