Family:Whitney, Abel T. (1807-1838)

Abel T. Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about Sep 1807, Franklin, VT, and died 23 Apr 1838, Franklin, VT, aged 30 years 7 months. He was buried in East Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, VT.[1]

He "of West Haven, Vt." married 29 Jun 1829, Orwell, VT, Roxana Snow "of Orwell, Vt.,"[2] daughter of probably Septimus and Nancy (Humphrey) Snow. No birth or death records have been found for her.

On 11 Mar 1830 he enlisted in the U.S. Army at Rochester [?NY?]. His age was 22, he had blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, height 5 feet 8 inches, born Franklin, VT. He was assigned to Co. I, 5th regiment. He was discharged 11 Mar 1835 due to the expiration of his service. He was reported as deserted 31 Aug 1831, and apprehended 4 Sep 1831, at Fort Howard, Green Bay, Michigan Territory.[3]

Children of Abel T. and Roxana (Snow) Whitney, if any, unknown.
