Benjamin7 Whitney (Christopher Atwood6, Jacob5, Benjamin4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Christopher Atwood6 and Adeline (Howard) Whitney, was born 2 Apr 1828, Phillips, ME, and died 1868, Tomah, WI.
He married, 15 Apr 1853, Phillips, ME, Huldah7 Whitney,[1] daughter of Andrew6 and Huldah (Sweetser) Whitney. She was born at Phillips, Maine, 7 Sep 1835,[2] and died 7 May 1879, Tomah, WI.
He resided Phillips, ME, and Lincoln, WI.

i. Almont Benjamin8 Whitney, b. 23 Jun 1856; d.s.p. 7 Jul 1880. ii. Charles Alvano Whitney, b. 21 Oct 1860; m. Belle Armstrong.
Huldah7 (Whitney) Whitney married secondly, 4 Mar 1869, Tomah, WI, Curtis Noble Smith. He was born 6 Feb 1824, Sidney, NY, son of Ephraim and Helen (Acker) Smith. Huldah7 (Whitney)(Whitney) Smith died 7 May 1879 in Wisconsin. She is buried in Greenfield Cemetery, Tunnell City, WI. Curtis Smith died 13 Dec 1916, Tacoma, WA. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Tacoma, WA.

- "At Tomah, March 4th, 1869, by Rev. T. D. Grow, Mr. C. N. SMITH, and Mrs. H. WHITNEY, all of Lincoln, Monroe County, Wis."
Obituary of Huldah (Whitney) Smith: Monroe County newspaper (MCR), May 9, 1879, Page 5, Col 5; courtesy of Monroe County Local History Room:
- "Mr. Curtis Smith, of La Grange, lately sold his farm near the water mill and having arranged matters for his wife soon to follow him by train, left her at the house of Mr. Prescott of said town, and started for Nebraska, to seek a new home. He left Tomah on Tuesday, and the same night his wife died. On Wednesday about noon, Mr. Smith had arrived in Sparta, when he received news of his wife's death. He immediately returned to attend her funeral. Mrs. Smith's health had not been good of late, yet her death was sudden and entirely unlooked for: 'Be ye also ready.'"
Obituary of Curtis Noble Smith:
- "Curtis Noble Smith, age 93, a retired farmer, native of Steuben county, New York, born Feb 16, 1824 a veteran of the Civil War, serving in Company D, 44th Wisconsin Infantry and member of Custer Post, G. A . R Tacoma, died today at the home of his grandson, Ray Smith, 41661/2 South I street. He came to Tacoma from Madison, Neb. 33 years ago and bought lots at South 23rd and E streets, which he cleared and sold. He then bought 80 acres near Rainier, which he cleared and sold, buying another 80 acre tract near it, which in line with his activity as a constructive pioneer he also improved and sold. He was marrried twice, his wives died several years ago. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Helen Clark and Mrs. A. J. Parker of Tacoma: three sons Adelbert of Lodge Pole, SD; Albert of Yelm; and James H of Olympia; a brother J.A Smith of Virginia and a sister Mrs. Sarah Paquin, of Valley Junction, WI.
The funeral will be Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm under auspicies of Custer post. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetary."
Curtis Noble Smith was a veteran of the Civil War. He received a pension for his service.

Curtis Noble Smith had married firstly, 31 Dec 1846, McHenry Co., IL, Caroline Ency Gray, daughter of Ephraim C. Gray. She was born 6 Oct 1830, NY, and died 21 Oct 1866, WI. She is buried in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, Warrens, WI.
