Elijah Ward7 Whitney (William E.6, John5, (poss.)Samuel4, John3, Benjamin2, John1), son of William E.6 and Sarah (Brackett) Whitney, was born 27 Mar 1816, Orleans Co., NY, or about 1815, ME, and died Aug 1904, Armour, Douglas Co., SD.

He married, 5 May 1847, La Salle Co., IL, Olive M. Davis, daughter of John C. and Hepsibah (Norton) Davis. She was born 27 Mar 1829, New Portland, Somerset Co., ME, and died 12 Jan 1886, Sheridan, IL.

On Sept 12, 1854, Elijah W. Whitney and Olive M. Whitney sold land for the consideration of $40.00 paid by Thomas Finnie. All parties were from Kendall County, IL. This record is at the Kendall County court house in Yorkville, IL. It is in book N on page 100.

On March 4th, 1869, land was purchased by Elijah W. Whitney from Tristram Norton (Elijah's wife's (Olive M.) grandfather.) Tristram Norton was from Franklin County in the State of Maine. The price was $170.00. Elijah was from the County of Kendall and State of Illinois. Tristram's wife, Sally Norton was all mentioned on the record. Documentation of this record is at the Kendall County Court House in Yorkville, Kendall County, IL. It is in book 27 and on pages 365 and 366.

From the Fair Dealer, Ottawa, IL, Friday September 2, 1904. Elijah Ward Whitney, one of Mission townships's old and respected citizens, died at the home his daughter, Mrs. Ida M. Best, Armour, S. D., August 14, and the remains were brought to Sheridan, and the burial took place in the Newark-Millington cemetery.
